All the cowboys gear was for a purpose, because he had little room to haul around things that weren’t necessary. Some of the things you don’t see in the map are as follows:
Horse:
The horse was one of the most important tools the cowboy had. Without a horse you weren’t much good to anyone. If your horse was injured or killed you were a walkin.
Bedroll:
The bedroll was his bedding and also rolled up inside was a jacket, poncho, and maybe, if lucky, some extra clothes.
Rifle:
Most cowboys carried a rifle. The rifle was used to shoot long distance. If it came to close confrontations the pistol was used.
