Hooowdy to all my friends,
It’s getting hot here in the Mojave Desert, so I’ve been laying around in the shade staying cool. I am so happy, because this is the season that all the little critters that were born this spring are coming out. They are so cute, and they hop around the ranch until they see me and then I play tag with them, but I don’t understand why I always have to be it, but it’s fun so I do it anyway.
Calico is doing fine. Sheriff Ricochet told me that they are having elections for a new Sheriff and he has turned in his paperwork to be the next Sheriff. I got so excited that I was jumping around and singing, Sheriff Ricochet said not to get my hopes up because sometimes things don’t work out the way you expect them to. If you are a registered voter in San Bernardino County vote for Sheriff Ricochet for Sheriff of Calico Ghost Town. I found out the other day that there are no Cowboys at Calico at this time. That means that there are no gunfight shows. I asked Sheriff Ricochet what’s going on up there, he just said that Calico is going through allot of changes and he hopes that someone will stand up and take charge. Then he got mad and just walked away mumbling something about sissies.
Guess what? Hard Luck Henry has opened his boot and saddle shop at Calico. He opened his doors last Thursday and is selling his goods. If you remember, he was the last Sheriff of Calico, but how he’s busy with his shop. If you are at Calico, go to the top of the hill to the boot and saddle shop and say howdy. He does good work and if you have things that need repair take them to him and have him fix them up.
The restaurant is staying open for the summer until 8 p.m. for the visitors and townsfolk to have dinner in town. If you are at Calico and are there in the evening go have a bite to eat and say hi to Craig and Denise from me. I like it because he serves great big thick steaks and I love the bones. Um, Um. They also run the horse stables, and they rent horses to ride around the hills of Calico. It’s pretty neat to see the places you can’t see unless you get up in the hills.
Sheriff Ricochet has opened a Trading Post to sell the goods of the Old West. He says that we have to find ways to earn a living if we want to eat. That got me a little scared, because I like to eat, so I’m telling you guys to buy something so I won’t go hungry. I was looking at the Trading Post and there’s some neat things like; Native American goods, Toys, Gold Prospecting equipment, and he says that he is putting in a Western Movie page.
What? Miss Kitty is chasing something and making a mess. I better go find out what she’s up to. So I have to say goodbye for now and I’ll write you guys next month.
